Bubble Goth
A micro-subculture of Goth, blends the cute with the creepy. Popularized by Estonian singer Kerli Kõiv, who blended light elements with dark, and coined the phrased after being labeled "Bubblegum Goth" by critics. Talk about reclaiming labels! This culture does have it's own values that encourages radical individuality and soft but edgy self expression.
While it shares musical similarities with the broader goth subculture, Bubble Goth also incorporates elements of electronic and pop music with a dark or morbid theme.
* This is a real subculture with history, values, and community behind them, so it deserves to be treated as more than just a look. While my site actively promotes individual expression and finding your "vibe" - I do want to show respect to the communities included in subcultures like this.
If you’re drawn to the soft-but-spooky vibe, here are some aesthetics inspired by or similar to Bubble Goth’s playful darkness and pastel edge: Fairy Grunge, Acid Pixie, Candycore, Kawaii, Magical Girls.
