Punk

Punk was born as a reaction against mainstream culture in the 1970s. It pushed back against conformity with loud music, DIY fashion, and a bold attitude. In the US, the term punk was used to describe garage bands of the 60s, which then morphed into what it is now. Americans dedicated to fighting against corporate garbage. At the same time, England was going through a massive recession in the 70s, and the underground music scene exploded with rage against the system.

By the late 70s, you started seeing the spikes in clothing, hair, and accessories. Anything that was deliberately offensive. Because F-the "mainstream" and those who try to push it on us.

There's so much history because this lifestyle. But if you're into The Ramones, Sex Pistols, The Clash, Patti Smith... you probably already know.
