Mall Goth

The Mall Goth subculture is a subset of Goth birthed between the 90s and early 2000s. A lot of the fashion pretty much came from Hot Topic. A lot of internet humor is integrated with this fashion as well. Characters like Emily the Strange, Happy Bunny, and Skelanimals could probably be found somewhere on outfits, accessories, or room decor.

When accessibility meets community, it becomes it's own culture. (Typically outcasted by traditional goths for being too commercialized...) Mall Goths were able to bond over Nu-Metal/Industrial/Goth, identity formation and internet culture, which curated a sense of belonging that defined their scene.

* This is a real subculture with history, values, and community behind them, so it deserves to be treated as more than just a look.
